Journal

The Belgian Royal Historical Commission, created in 1834, publishes since 1837 the Bulletin de la Commission royale d’Histoire – Handelingen van de Koninklijke Commissie voor Geschiedenis (HKCG – BCRH). This journal, published once a year, contains scholarly editions of unpublished documents concerning the history of Belgium, the former Southern Netherlands and the Prince-bishopric of Liège, from the Early Middle Ages to the 20th century.

Each actual text edition is preceded by an introduction which establishes the scope of the published document. Manuscripts presented to the Commission are subject to peer review by four members of the Commission. The contributions are written in one of the four following languages: English, French, Dutch or German, or even, exceptionally, in Spanish or Italian. All previous issues of BCRH are accessible online, not only on the site of Peeters, but also on Persee.fr.
