De drukwerken die ter beoordeling bij de jury worden ingediend, kunnen in de verzamelingen van de Commissie of daarbuiten zijn gepubliceerd. Elektronische edities moeten in een editie op papier worden ingediend, tenzij de Commissie een vrijstelling verleent nadat daartoe een verzoek is ingediend. Alle werken in het Nederlands, het Frans, het Duits, het Engels, het Spaans of het Italiaans komen in aanmerking.<\/li>\n<li>De prijs wordt om de twee jaar uitgereikt. Hij zal een werk belonen dat handelt over de middeleeuwse geschiedenis, over de geschiedenis van de moderne tijd of over hedendaagse geschiedenis. Indien het voorgestelde werk gedrukt is, moet het zijn gepubliceerd tijdens de zes jaar die voorafgaan aan de oproep tot kandidaten. De datum van het wettelijk depot geldt als bewijs.<\/li>\n<li>De prijs, ten bedrage van tweeduizend euro, wordt elk oneven jaar uitgereikt. De gedrukte werken die worden toegelaten om mee te dingen naar de prijs, mogen ten vroegste zes jaar voor de datum van de indiening van de kandidatuur verschenen zijn.<\/li>\n<li>De kandidaturen moeten v\u00f3\u00f3r 1 juni worden ingediend, waarbij de datum van het poststempel als bewijs geldt. De kandidaat bezorgt aan het Secretariaat van de Koninklijke Commissie voor Geschiedenis (Paleis der Academi\u00ebn, Hertogstraat 1 te 1000 Brussel) twee exemplaren van het werk waarmee hij\/zij aan de wedstrijd deelneemt evenals een curriculum vitae.<\/li>\n<li>De leden van de Koninklijke Commissie voor Geschiedenis mogen niet deelnemen aan de wedstrijd. De laureaten van de prijs Henri Pirenne mogen hun kandidatuur niet indienen voor een volgende editie van de prijs.<\/li>\n<li>Elk werk wordt ter beoordeling voorgelegd aan vier commissarissen die de Koninklijke Commissie voor Geschiedenis onder haar leden benoemt. Zij brengen verslag uit over de werken die ze hebben gelezen. Deze verslagen blijven vertrouwelijk. De Koninklijke Commissie voor Geschiedenis beslist over de toekenning van de prijs na kennis te hebben genomen van alle verslagen. Voldoet geen enkel werk aan de wetenschappelijke criteria, dan kan de Koninklijke Commissie voor Geschiedenis beslissen om de prijs niet toe te kennen. In dit geval wordt het bedrag niet overgedragen naar een volgende editie.<\/li>\n<li>Indien het bekroonde werk nog niet is uitgegeven, verbindt de laureaat die de prijs aanvaardt zich ertoe het werk te publiceren in de verzamelingen van de Koninklijke Commissie voor Geschiedenis, zo de Commissie dat wenst. In dit geval verbindt de auteur zich ertoe om in de definitieve editie rekening te houden met de eventuele opmerkingen van de commissarissen.<\/li>\n<li>Tegen de beslissingen van de Koninklijke Commissie voor Geschiedenis is geen beroep mogelijk.
