Zijn carri\u00e8re die zich afspeelde in de hogere economische en politieke regionen, nam meerdere bochten; hij was secretaris van Koning Albert I, krantenredacteur en minister van Financi\u00ebn. Aan de vooravond van de Tweede Wereldoorlog kwam hij aan het hoofd van de Banque de Bruxelles, en begon in 1941, tijdens de Duitse bezetting, aan zijn memoires, waaraan hij tot 1954 met tussenpozen werkte. Dit document behandelt veel thema\u2019s die onuitgegeven informatie bevatten, gaande van de voorstelling van de Luikse bourgeoisie aan het einde van de 19e eeuw, de uitoefening van het koninklijk ambt onder Koning Albert I, het leven als bedrijfsleider, de werking van coalitieregeringen aan het einde van de jaren dertig, het zogenaamde politieke beleid &#8216;van het minste kwaad&#8217; tijdens de Tweede Wereldoorlog, tot de Koningskwestie.
